MICRODERMABRASION
The gentlest way to resurface. Microdermabrasion lifts away the dull outer layer of dead skin in about half an hour, leaving you smoother and brighter with nothing visible to explain afterwards.
HOW IT WORKS
A handpiece with a fine abrasive tip passes across the skin while gentle suction lifts away the loosened surface cells. That outermost layer is made of cells your skin has already finished with, and removing it does two things at once. It makes the surface immediately smoother and more reflective, and it lets your serums and moisturizers actually reach living skin instead of sitting on top of debris. The depth is adjusted on the day, so the same treatment can be very gentle or more assertive depending on your skin.
HOW IT COMPARES
Three treatments get confused constantly. They do different jobs, and picking right saves you money and disappointment.
Physical, surface level, no downtime. Best for dullness, rough texture and congestion. The gentlest of the three.
Chemical, goes deeper, several days of flaking. Best for pigmentation, melasma and sun damage.
Creates controlled channels to rebuild collagen. Best for scarring, pores and fine lines. Two days of redness.
Yes, in sequence rather than on the same day. We build a plan rather than stacking treatments on one appointment.
That is what the consultation is for. We will recommend the least aggressive option that will actually get you there.
WHAT CAN MICRODERMABRASION HELP WITH?
This is a surface treatment, and it is excellent at what it does. For deeper concerns like significant scarring or pigmentation we will point you to a stronger option rather than selling you a course that will not reach.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The treatment takes around thirty minutes and feels like a rough cat’s tongue with light suction. Mildly scratchy, not painful. Afterwards your skin may be slightly pink for an hour or so and will feel noticeably smoother straight away. You can wear makeup the same day. Skip retinoids and exfoliating acids for about three days, and wear sunscreen, because freshly resurfaced skin burns more easily. A course of four to six treatments every two to four weeks gives the clearest change.
FAQ’s
Essentially none. Some people are slightly pink for an hour afterwards, similar to a light flush. Makeup can go back on the same day. This is the treatment to book when you want to look better this week and cannot afford to look worse first.
Microdermabrasion removes the surface layer physically, with an abrasive tip and suction. A peel removes it chemically and can be taken much deeper. Microdermabrasion wins on convenience and gentleness. A peel wins on pigmentation and sun damage, and charges you several days of flaking for it.
You will see and feel a difference after one. For a lasting change in texture, plan on four to six treatments spaced two to four weeks apart, then monthly maintenance if you want to hold it. Because there is no recovery, it fits easily into a routine.
No. Most clients describe it as scratchy with a pulling sensation from the suction, a bit like a rough tongue. Areas around the nose and upper lip feel more intense because the skin is thinner there. Tell us and we lower the setting.
We avoid treating over active acne breakouts, rosacea flares, eczema, open or infected skin, cold sores or sunburn. If you have used isotretinoin in the last six months or are on a prescription retinoid, tell us, because your skin is more fragile and we may need to adjust or wait. It is otherwise suitable for almost all skin types, including deeper skin tones, because it uses no heat or light.
