MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling works with your skin rather than on top of it. Tiny controlled channels trigger your own collagen to rebuild, softening scarring, texture and fine lines over the weeks that follow.
HOW IT ACTUALLY WORKS
A sterile cartridge of very fine needles creates hundreds of micro-channels in the skin. Each one is a small, controlled injury, and your body responds the way it always does, by producing fresh collagen and elastin to repair it. Nothing is injected and nothing is removed. The improvement comes from tissue you grow yourself, which is why it builds gradually and keeps improving for weeks after your last session.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY
Most people are surprised by how manageable it is. Here is the honest version of a microneedling appointment, start to finish.
A topical numbing cream sits for about 30 minutes before we begin, so the treatment itself is comfortable.
A light vibration with some pressure. Bonier areas like the forehead and jawline are more noticeable than the cheeks.
The needling itself takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes for a full face. Longer if we add the neck or chest.
You will look like you have a moderate sunburn. Warm, pink and tight. That settles considerably overnight.
Most clients are back to normal with light redness. Makeup can go on after 24 hours, and you can work out after 48.
WHAT CAN MICRONEEDLING HELP WITH?
Microneedling earns its reputation on texture. If your concern is the surface quality of your skin rather than volume or movement, this is usually the right starting point.
THE TREATMENT PLAN
One session will give you a glow. Lasting change in texture and scarring comes from a series of three to four treatments spaced four to six weeks apart, because each round builds on the collagen the last one started. Results continue developing for up to three months after your final session, and most clients maintain with a single treatment two or three times a year. Lindsay will tell you at your consultation how many you realistically need rather than selling you a standard package.
FAQ’s
For general texture and glow, three sessions four to six weeks apart is typical. For acne scarring, plan on four to six. You will see something after the first, but the change that holds comes from the series. We will give you a realistic number after looking at your skin, not before.
Much less than people expect. Topical numbing sits for about 30 minutes first, and most clients describe the treatment as a light vibration with pressure. The forehead, hairline and jawline are more noticeable than the cheeks because the skin sits closer to bone. Tell us at any point and we adjust the depth.
Expect to look flushed and feel tight for the rest of the day, similar to a moderate sunburn. By the next morning most people are down to light pink that makeup covers easily. Some skin flakes lightly on days three to five. Avoid makeup for 24 hours, working out for 48 hours, and direct sun while you heal.
We will not treat over active acne breakouts, cold sores, eczema or psoriasis in the treatment area, or any open or infected skin. If you have taken isotretinoin in the last six months, have a history of keloid scarring, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners, tell us at your consultation. Some of these mean waiting rather than never.
Yes, and that is one of microneedling’s real advantages. Because it uses no heat and no light, it carries a much lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation than lasers do, which makes it one of the safer options for deeper skin tones. We still take care with depth and aftercare, and sun protection afterwards matters more, not less.
